Project „Narratio.
A Digital Repository of Oral History”
We are pleased to announce that the project titled “Narratio. A Digital Repository of Oral History” has been selected for funding under the European Funds for Digital Development (EFDD) program, Measure 2.3: Digital Accessibility and Reuse of Information.
What is “Narratio”?
“Narratio” is the first initiative of its kind in Poland, aiming to:
In the virtual environment, access to oral history is currently limited—materials are scattered across many platforms, they come in various formats and standards, and often lack complete metadata. The goal of the project is to gather these resources in one place while maintaining high technical and substantive standards.
- gigitize, protect, and make available oral history resources,
- integrate dispersed archives from various institutions,
- standardize metadata,
- provide modern tools for accessing historical testimonies.

The goal of the project is to gather these resources in one place while maintaining high technical and substantive standards.
Project partners

- Witold Pilecki Institute of Solidarity and Valor,
- Central Museum of Prisoners of War.
After the project is completed, the established infrastructure will be open to additional institutions and entities wishing to share their oral history collections.
A shared platform
and modern technology
As part of the project, a modern online platform will be created that will:
In total, more than 7,300 digital documents will be made available – including testimonies of eyewitnesses to history, audio and video recordings, and written memoirs.
- integrate the resources of four partner institutions,
- enable searching and browsing of materials through APIs and AI tools,
- allow integration with national data aggregators (e.g., KRONIK@) and international ones (e.g., Europeana),
- provide automatic transcription and advanced content search features.
In total, more than 7,300 digital documents will be made available – including testimonies of eyewitnesses to history, audio and video recordings, and written memoirs.
