Prix Versailles 2024 Competition: Polish History Museum among the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Museums’

We are very pleased to announce that the Polish History Museum has been named one of the 'World’s Most Beautiful Museums' in the international Prix Versailles competition. This is a prestigious architectural prize that has been awarded for ten years, this year for the first time in the Museums category. The verdict is announced each year at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The Versailles Prize is one of the important distinctions in architecture and design.
In the tenth anniversary edition of the competition, in the Museums category, our institution was recognised for its special architectural qualities, as the building of the Polish History Museum is not only a place where we tell the history of the state and the nation. It is a work of art in itself, a building full of thoughtful meanings. Its façade refers to the successive layers of Poland’s history: from the earliest times to the present.
The Museum of Polish History is one of the seven newly opened or reopened museums from around the world recognised by the Jury of the Prix Versailles competition as the most beautiful. Other winners include the A4 Art Museum in Chengdu (China), the Smritivan Earthquake Museum in Bhuj (India), the Museum Oman Across Ages, the Paleis Het Loo dubbed the Dutch Versailles, Japan’s Simose Art Museum in Ōtake (Hiroshima Prefecture) and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza.
